“We had a really enjoyable stay at Roberts's lovingly converted grain mill. The spec is very high and it felt very luxe whilst being nestled amongst the original workings and grain stores. The sound of the water was also very restful. The kitchen is huge and very well equipped and we put the sonos sound system to good use. I'd highly recommend this one of a kind venue in the tranquil Peak District. Visiting chatsworth house is a must.”
“Our group of friends stayed at the Mill and all of us agreed we'd found a true gem. What a fantastic place with lovely hosts. The finish of the property and attention to detail is well beyond the standard of what you normally encounter. This is a unique and truly beautiful property which is equipped to the highest standard and has a wealth of history and character. A big thank you to Robert and Hillary for a wonderful few days, we hope to be back soon!”
“An amazing and wonderful holiday home ideally situated close to Bakewell, Buxton and Chatsworth House. We were a group of 8 with a dog and the Mill worked perfectly for us, a fantastic use of space this is the most perfect holiday destination and place to recharge your batteries. The walks nearby were wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Robert and Hillary were the perfect hosts that were helpful, friendly and informative. 10/10 - we would highly recommend Ashford Mill!”
“Everything was fantastic and the house was stunning! Robert Met us himself to show us around which was great because we also got to hear a bit more about the house and how he built it. Really incredible house and a pleasure to stay. Great cooking equipment provided. Very comfy beds and sofas! Perfect really.”

“We had a wonderful birthday weekend celebration at the outstandingly stunning Ashford Mill. This unique and gorgeous place to stay provided an amazing backdrop to a visit to the Peak District. “The Mill is by far the most impressive Air BnB space we have experienced as a family. From sensor, mood lighting to smart TV (Netflix etc), to underfloor heating to ensure your feet are never cold! Little touches throughout make for a luxurious, comfortable, magical stay. Robert and Hilary are lovely people. We visited the Packhorse pub on their recommendation....a must! Chatsworth House is beautiful this time of year and very festive! The walk from the Mill into Bakewell is again one of the most picturesque we have experienced along the river bank and over rolling hills. Thank you for a picture-perfect escape. The Farrar's”
“Our stay at Ashford Mill could not have been better. This beautifully renovated Mill exceeded all our expectations and provided the perfect location for a wonderful family-Christmas break – clean, capacious and stylish. From the moment we arrived, all housekeeping matters were fully explained. Thereafter, everything worked like a dream (even our first experience of Aga cooking did not present any problems). Hilary and Robert could not have been more accommodating and Ashford-in-the-Water is without doubt one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District with easy access to spectacular countryside (e.g. Chatsworth, Monsal Dale, Froggat Edge). I would recommend this Airbnb wholeheartedly and without any reservation.”
“This was one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed! Very unique but also comfortable, cosy, well equipped and simply beautiful! We would definitely love to come back, and I'm sure we will! Great location for seeing the beautiful village of Bakewell and just a few minutes drive from the Monsell trail which was our highlight of the trip. We came as a family for some quality time together, and this beautiful accommodation enhanced that-in particular the giant kitchen where we all cooked together and ate together around the table. In short, we loved this place and have already recommended to family and friends :) we will be back!”
